Steven, thanks for being the best canine buddy anyone could ever have. Memories of your mellow and calm personality brighten my days. You have worked well as a guide, and I'll definitely miss the companionship and sense of safety you gave me. I know wherever life takes you, (whether it's on a journey toward healing or the other side), you will be okay. stay strong, and we'll see each other one day. I'll never forget you.

ah that's sad. I can tell you loved him very much. I don't use a dog but can understand the attachment.

Take care, and love to you and your dog. This must be so difficult.

I have yet to hear back from the school about where the cancer came from, or how he is doing. I think I may call them tomorrow afternoon.

I'm getting better, but it's a very gradual process. these last couple of months have been one big emotional roller coaster. First came the sadness of his leaving, then I started to accept it a little bit, (and that is getting better every week), but now I'm still beating myself up about the diagnosis. The cancer is genetic, so I couldn't have caught it earlier than i did. I hope this guilt trip goes away soon.

Animals are like children to us, so it doesn't surprise me all the feelings you're experiencing. As someone who has seen an animal through a terminal illness, the only thing I can say is that focusing on the good times, and how much that Stephen meant to you, and how you did all you could for him will lessen the pain over time. Continued thoughts and prayers in both of your dirrections.

Thank you, and there is an update on his health in a different category.
